My name is Bill Baker, and I’m a Strategic Storyteller.
I have tried for years to get my mother to understand what I do for a living, but have found little success in this endeavor. She refuses to tell people I’m a Strategic Storyteller (“What’s that? That’s not a job? How do you make money at that?”), so she has taken to telling everyone I’m a doctor instead. What can you do?
Regardless, I have always been fascinated with the power of stories to move, focus and guide people, helping them see something in a new way, imagine a vision of the future that has yet to transpire and compel them to become part of that vision and make it real. Storytelling is the way most of us most naturally communicate with and engage each other. We love telling stories; we love hearing them; we love passing them along to others. My company, BB&Co Strategic Storytelling, harnesses the power of storytelling and uses it strategically to help transform brands, businesses and people. Hi Bill,
Interesting to read your history as a preacher’s kid. Way back when, before I became a psychologist and management consultant, I was a preacher myself for several years. I learned quickly that ‘strategic’ storytelling was a way to keep the congregation awake and engaged.
More power to you in your important work,
Warm regards
Cedric
Hey there Cedric. Many thanks for the kind words on the blog. I’m sure all good preachers practice like you do, and we are the richer for it. Peace.
